“Scoot for the Moon” – Kids Fundraising for Refugees!

Fundraising is our most important method of providing support to refugee projects around the world, but it’s not just for adults – young people can join in too!

Recently, we’ve received donations from a number of the younger members of our community, who’ve put in creativity and hard work to help us support refugees:

  • Five-year old Inéz raised ¥30,000 through a “five-kilometre scoot”, seeking sponsorship from family and friends to ride across Tokyo on scooter-back for RIJ.
  • Shanina organised a “students versus teachers” soccer match at her school, charging spectators ¥100 to enter and raising over ¥10,000.
  • In Year 6, Freddie ran part of the famous Nakasendo Way– with sponsorship, he raised over ¥40,000 to support RIJ projects.

Congratulations and thank you to Inéz, Shanina and Freddie for proving that you’re never too young to make a difference in the lives of refugees across the world!

We’ve just released our new “Kids Fundraising Pack” for elementary school-aged children and below, which you can download here – check it out!
